Actually not a rice, but the seed of an aquatic grass. One cup of raw wild rice increases in volume when cooked, producing four cups of delicious and nutritious product. The nutritional benefits of Organic Wild Rice are many: high
in protein, vitamin and mineral content, gluten-free, low in unsaturated fat, and extremely high in bulk fiber.
Wild rice can be eaten as is, in salads, soups, as a breakfast cereal, in pilafs and so much more. Processed by a parching method similar to one indigenous people have employed over the centuries; the parching method used to cure this organic wild rice renders a rich nutty flavor and aroma.
Instructions for reference: Rinse wild rice before cooking. Soaking up to 2-3 hours is optional, this would reduce cooking time and may make it easier to digest. 1 cup of uncooked wild rice yields 3.5 cups of cooked wild rice. Use water or broth for cooking, salt optional.
- Stovetop method: Liquid to wild rice ratio is 3:1. Simmer around 40-45mins.
- Rice cooker method: Liquid to wild rice ratio is 2:1.
- Microwave: Liquid to wild rice ratio is 3:1.
- Instant Pot Method: Liquid to wild rice ratio is 1⅓:1.
