If everyone in the United States flossed their teeth using plastic floss that comes in a disposable dispenser, we would fill up a landfill the size of a football field that’s six stories high with the empty floss dispensers. Okay, you might be thinking, but not everyone flosses as they should. True, but even if just half of Americans flossed according to ADA recommendations, the empty containers would still fill up a football field three stories high.

No matter how you look at it, that’s a lot of plastic each year for something as seemingly insignificant as a floss dispenser.
